The Carrigtwohill girls brought their season to a close this evening in Ballyadam in fine style with a comprehensive win over Mallow United on what was a lovely sunny evening

Sadie continued her recent goal streak by scoring in the opening 10 minutes after a nice through ball from Kate operating in midfield. Super work by Kaitlin as always added a second shortly after and it seemed the girls might score in every attack. To be fair, Mallow steadied the ship without ever really threatening the Carrigtwohill defence.

The second half continued the pattern and our girls added 3 more goals as Kaitlin, Kate and Lucy scored with at least another 3 good chances going abegging. 

There were a lot of strong performances today, Kaitlin at her most effective, Lucy terrified the opposition especially in the second half when she was more direct, Clodagh had a superb second half, Sadie ever ready to add to her goal tally and Kate ever aware in midfield and continuing her strong recent performances with a goal and an assist.

This was by far the team’s best performance of the season and capped a wonderful month of May with 3 wins, 9 goals scored and only 2 conceded. They finish the season in 3rd spot of a 9 team division, just missing out on a promotion spot.

Well done to all of them for their efforts over the entire 16 game season – our wonder keeper Ailish, our 3 ever dependable centre back super stoppers Aisling, Robyn and Saoirse, corner backs Amy, Ameile, Ameila, midfield dynamos Clodagh, Kate, Kaitlin, EmmaOC and wingers and strikers Searlaith, Sadie, EmmaQ, Lucy, Maisie and Isabel – each and every one stepped up at various times during the season to get the team to where it is now.

The girls look forward now to an end of season trip to Pairc Ui Chaoimh to see the Ireland Womens Team take on Netherlands next week – a well-deserved treat !
