Carrigtwohill travelled to Mayfield to play in the 3rd round of the Founders Cup on  Saturday morning. 

 

With one Division separating the teams it was Carrigtwohill who started the better and looked the stronger team .

 

Against the run of play Mayfield scored , and for us a really sloppy goal , a ball which should have been cleared at least  twice and should have been prevented .

 

Carrig continued to press , great chances fell to Ciarán, Scott, Josh and Tom P , but we could not convert , something that we really need to work on in training. 

 

What was satisfying was the work rate , and commitment to the high ball , again worked a lot at training and the back line of Tom O, Tom P , Dylan , Kuba, Isaac and krystian were excellent and clearing everything in the air .

 

As the second half continued you could see the boys really ramping up the pressure , the midfield of ollie , Ryan,  tom o and krystian were dominating and putting our wingers of alonzo , josh , ciarán and Liam on a lot of ball with a lot of excellent runs and crosses again. 

Chances fell to scott , one of which a beautiful shot coming off the post.

Mayfield limited in chances were easily dealt with by Julian. 

With time running out scott delivered a beautiful free kick and Krystian rose highest with an excellent header and an outstanding finish. 

Now it was a matter of time before we found the winner , ciaran took off down the right and swung in a inch perfect cross to find Liam on the back post who finished superbly to make it 2-1 

 

Tougher task awaits in the next round against Ballincollig

Based on what we have worked on in training the last few weeks and see it come off   there was 4 outstanding displays :

 

Tom P and Krystian worked  tirelessly in midfield,  tackling and distribution to the wingers was outstanding 

 

Ciarán and Liam were relentless on the wings , full of running , chances and some excellent deliveries
