What a week it has been for Carrigtwohill Utd's own Molly Dennis.
Representing the Cork Women's & Schoolgirls Soccer League (CWSSL) at the prestigious Gaynor Cup in the University of Limerick, Molly played a key role as Cork were crowned national champions following a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Galway in the final.
The Cork side went unbeaten throughout the week, overcoming the very best county leagues in the country to lift the trophy. Molly's contribution was immense, scoring three goals and providing an assist along the way, showcasing the attacking talent that has made her one of the most exciting young players around.
Whether operating on the wing or leading the line, Molly's pace, creativity, work rate and eye for goal caused problems for opposition defences throughout the tournament. Her performances were a major factor in Cork's remarkable success.
The achievement was made even more special as the CWSSL secured the Gaynor Cup title for the first time since 2019, ending a seven-year wait for the trophy.
After celebrating victory with her Cork teammates, Molly made it back in time to attend the Republic of Ireland Women's international victory over the Netherlands at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, where she was able to celebrate an unforgettable week with her Carrigtwohill Utd teammates and friends.
And if winning a national title wasn't enough, the fantastic news kept coming. Molly has now been selected to represent Ireland in the upcoming Association Cup tournament in UL, Limerick, in two weeks' time – another outstanding achievement and a reward for her dedication, talent and hard work.
Everyone at Carrigtwohill Utd is incredibly proud of Molly and all she has accomplished. She has represented her club, her community and Cork with distinction, and her success is richly deserved.
Congratulations also to the entire CWSSL squad and coaching staff on a tremendous achievement that will live long in the memory.
The future is bright, and Molly Dennis is certainly one to watch.
