Carrigtwohill sealed promotion to the Premier division with 2 games remaining with a great win at home to Riverstown.

 

The game was played at a very high tempo with Riverstown battling hard to avoid relegation. The first half was very even with Riverstown attacking well but Jack, Will, Michael and Tommy defended well with Oran, Albert and Max working hard in midfield. Robert, Shaun and Adrian attacked well but the Riverstown defence were proving tough to beat. The opened eventually came just before halftime when a Riverstown free kick into the box was headed clear by Tommy, who's block of the returning ball rebounded over halfway to set Adrian clear. He outpaced the Riverstown defence and finished well past the keeper for 1-0 at halftime.

 

Carrigtwohill started the 2nd half really well and sealed the win with 3 quick goals. First Robert was sent through by Adrian and when the keeper blocked Robert's shot Adrian was following up with a great finish over the keeper. A few mins later it was 3-0 when Adrian laid it off to Shaun who finished well across the keeper. Robert scored the 4th with a great goal. After a run down the left he cut inside and powered a shot into the far top corner.

 

Tom, coming back from an injury layoff nearly created a 5th for Adam after good work from Ariel but unfortunately he was slight offside. Robertson never gave up and despite missing a penalty they got their reward when a shot snuck under Ruadhán in the Carrig goal.

The game finished 4-1 for Carrig's 8th league win in a row.
