Carrigtwohill travelled to Castleview tonight for the quarter-final of the Kevin Dillon Cup.

Playing against a very tough and physical side, chances were limited for both teams throughout the game. To be fair to Castleview, they were physical but fair throughout and won most of the breaking balls and duels.

Carrigtwohill's passing and general play were below their usual standards, and at times we gave Castleview too much respect.

Castleview opened the scoring with 12 minutes remaining from a free kick, which should have been dealt with better. Not for the first time this season, it took conceding a goal to get us going.

Moving Tom O'Connell up front alongside Scott was a gamble for the final 10 minutes, but it had worked in a previous game. With more sustained pressure and Julian's kick-outs continually putting Castleview under pressure, one eventually bounced over a defender. Alonzo controlled it brilliantly and finished well to make it 1-1.

It was all Carrigtwohill from then on and, with only minutes remaining, a fine corner from Scott was controlled by Ollie and fell kindly to Krystian, who rattled the back of the net.

We will need to improve significantly in Saturday's semi-final if we are to progress. Playing seven games in 15 days is certainly not helping the boys, but their determination and resilience continue to shine through.

Not our finest performance, but Ryan continues to improve in midfield, driving the team forward throughout. Alonzo took his goal well and, once again, showed that size doesn't matter when facing a big physical team, giving 110% and never giving up, with or without the ball.
