Greenwood - 2
Carrigtwohill United – 4

Carrigtwohill produced an excellent team performance to claim all three points against Greenwood in an entertaining contest that showcased quality football, determination, and character throughout.

The lads could not have asked for a better start, taking the lead after just 30 seconds with an outstanding team goal. The move began at the back with Darragh, who found Cormac before James linked the play superbly. The ball eventually found its way to Kai, who finished acrobatically to the net to give Carrig the perfect opening.

Encouraged by the early goal, Carrigtwohill controlled possession for long periods and created a number of promising opportunities, although several efforts drifted narrowly over the bar. Despite their dominance, Greenwood drew level around ten minutes later.

To their credit, the equaliser did not disrupt Carrig's rhythm. They continued to play with confidence and purpose, and it wasn't long before they regained the lead. James, who was outstanding throughout, used his strength and intelligence brilliantly to create an opening before driving forward and smashing an unstoppable finish past the goalkeeper.

Again, Carrigtwohill were playing the better football, but Greenwood found a route back into the game when a penalty was awarded, allowing them to make it 2-2. It would have been a frustrating scoreline to take into the break considering Carrig's superiority, but the lads remained focused and continued to control the game.

On the stroke of half-time, Luke stepped up to take a free kick and produced a moment of quality, curling a superb effort into the net to restore the lead and send Carrigtwohill into the break 3-2 ahead.

Although Carrigtwohill had enjoyed most of the possession and chances in the opening half, a one-goal advantage was far from secure. The message at half-time was simple: continue working hard and maintain the intensity. The response was exactly what the coaches were looking for.

Carrigtwohill started the second half with energy and purpose, and James continued to cause problems in his new role. His influence on the game was rewarded when he created Carrig's fourth goal, giving the team a crucial two-goal cushion.

The final twenty minutes demanded character, determination, and the right attitude, and every player delivered. The team worked tirelessly to protect their lead and ensure the points stayed with Carrigtwohill.

From Charlie in goal, to Darragh, Eoin, Kacper, and Dara in defence; Sam, Luke, Cormac, and Thomas in midfield; our excellent wingers Kai, Dylan, Fionn, and Josh; and target man James up front, every player played their part in a terrific team performance.

The final whistle sent everyone home happy after an impressive display and a fully deserved victory.
