Carrigtwohill United Seniors got their MSL Senior Division 2 campaign underway at Ballyadam Park on Sunday morning, matching Mallow United for over an hour in a competitive encounter.

The game turned in the 68th and 69th minutes when Mallow scored two outstanding long-range efforts in quick succession to take control. Carrigtwohill continued to battle and were rewarded with a late penalty, which Leroy Mhondiwa dispatched confidently.

As Carrigtwohill pushed for an equaliser, Mallow caught them on the break and added two further goals deep into injury time. Alex Fitzgerald and Uche Obiwuru were among the home side's standout performers. The Seniors now turn their attention to next Sunday's away trip to Temple United.
