Our Under-17A Youths officially got their season underway on Saturday with a trip to Bweeng Celtic in the CYL Cup.

The lads made an excellent start, keeping possession well and defending strongly, with Luke, Oisín, Ryan Barry, Roger and Eoghan Rall solid at the back. As Carrigtwohill settled into the game and began combining well, the opening goal arrived through some great work from Ryan Matthew, who set up Jack Conneely to rifle a superb shot into the top corner. Against the run of play, Bweeng equalised from a scrappy corner to leave it 1–1 at half-time.

Zac and Charlie McCann competed strongly in midfield throughout, helping us retain possession and providing excellent protection for the defence. Eoin Lombard worked tirelessly, contributing both on the wing and up front when needed. Bweeng took the lead with eight minutes remaining, but Carrigtwohill responded by creating late chances, with JP and Rian Newman going close. Paulie and Alex were introduced late on as the lads pushed for an equaliser, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.

A special mention to Odhran Collins, who produced an outstanding Player of the Match performance. He was literally everywhere, constantly busy and always looking to get on the ball.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance and the lads can be proud of their efforts in their first competitive game of the season. 👏🟢⚽
