Carrigtwohill United produced a dominant performance to overcome Rathcoole Rovers 8–2, recovering from a shaky start to deliver a ruthless second-half display that blew the visitors away.

Rathcoole Rovers struck first, taking an early lead after catching Carrigtwohill cold in the opening exchanges. The home side responded well, settling into possession and eventually drawing level with a well-worked move. But Rathcoole weren’t finished. A quick counter saw them regain the lead at 2–1, punishing Carrigtwohill’s hesitation at the back. The response, however, was immediate. Carrigtwohill equalised again, showing resilience and composure in the final third.

 

With momentum finally swinging their way, Carrigtwohill pushed on and grabbed a third before the break, heading into half-time 3–2 ahead and looking far more assured.

Carrigtwohill started the second half slowly, giving Rathcoole a brief window of hope. But once the lads settled, the game flipped completely. Carrigtwohill took full control, moved the ball with confidence and began carving open Rathcoole’s defence repeatedly.

 

What followed was a five-goal second-half blitz — powerful finishing, clever movement and relentless pressure. By the final whistle, Carrigtwohill had turned a tight first half into a commanding 8–2 victory.
