Carrigtwohill suffered their first defeat of the season in what could only be described as a smash-and-grab victory for Castleview. Carrigtwohill started brightly and were on top from the opening whistle. After 12 minutes, Aaron Power, fresh from his hat-trick against Fermoy, struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box. A few minutes later, Brian came close after controlling the ball brilliantly on his chest before sending a volley narrowly wide.

On 25 minutes, Josh showed excellent determination to win possession before finding Jack, who produced a sublime through ball to the impressive Alameen. However, a Castleview defender made a superb last-ditch tackle to force a corner. Castleview created just one clear opportunity during the first half, but Bart produced a brilliant save to ensure the sides went into the break level at 0-0.

Ten minutes into the second half, Brian went on one of his trademark runs, only to see his shot drift just wide. Five minutes later, excellent work from Ryan Moore created an opportunity for Jack, but his effort flew just over the crossbar. Three minutes after that came the move of the match. Josh found Brian, whose clever backheel released Aaron through on goal, but the goalkeeper once again made an outstanding save.

At the back, central defenders Jamie and Izac were outstanding, clearing everything that came their way. Kral and Josh also impressed, while Sam made a positive impact from the bench with several powerful runs forward. Dillen worked tirelessly in midfield, and Nathan caused problems throughout with his blistering pace.

Bart was called into action again late on, producing two more fine saves, while Brian and Aaron both had further efforts on goal. Unfortunately, the sucker punch came in the closing stages when Castleview broke forward and scored on the counter-attack. With only two minutes remaining, there was not enough time for Carrigtwohill to find an equaliser.

It was a difficult result for the players and coaches to take after such a brilliant start to the season, but they will look to bounce back next week.
