After only two weeks of the season, Carrigtwohill A travelled to St Mary's for their third league game of the season.

On a wet and blustery evening, we came away from the game knowing that this was easily our best performance of the season so far.

Carrigtwohill took the lead within 10 minutes. A great run and through ball from Ciarán found Josh, who rounded the keeper and calmly slotted home.

St Mary's were limited to very few chances throughout the game, mainly due to our rock-solid defence and Julian's safe hands in goals.

Further chances fell to Scott and Josh, but we went into half-time deservedly ahead, 1-0.

The second half continued in much the same manner, with Carrigtwohill the better team. The work rate from the whole team was incredibly impressive throughout the game.

Our midfield and wingers were dominant, creating further chances for Scott and Josh. An unbelievable through ball from Tom P. found Liam, who chipped the keeper but saw his effort go agonisingly wide.

With less than 10 minutes remaining, St Mary's equalised with a goal which simply should not have stood.

A St Mary's throw-in was awarded, but a second ball remained on the pitch from the previous play, which Julian went to remove. At the same time, the throw was taken and St Mary's took a shot from distance. The ball looped over Julian as he was returning to his goal.

It was a crazy decision to allow the goal to stand, and the boys knew at the end that they should have taken all three points. It genuinely felt like the points were taken from us rather than lost.

A massive effort from the entire team today. 👏

This could have gone to almost anyone after such a great team performance.

Oliver gave an exhibition in never giving up. He ran himself into the ground from start to finish while displaying excellent defensive and attacking skills. A fantastic performance. 👏
