Carrigtwohill United eased into the next round of the National Cup with an impressive 5–2 victory over Springfield at Ballyadam Park.

Carrigtwohill started brightly and were ahead after just five minutes. Great work from Jack Lombard and Brian Wiecek in midfield released Eoin on the right, and his excellent cut-back found Aaron Power, who curled a superb finish into the bottom corner. It was 2–0 soon afterwards when Brian, Owen Aghedo and Jack combined to put Aaron Power through one-on-one, and Aaron showed great composure to lob the goalkeeper. Jack Lombard then delivered a corner which Brian Wiecek flicked on to Sam Ahern, who finished from close range to make it 3–0. Five minutes later Jack added a fourth himself, finding the near post with a low free-kick. Carrigtwohill's fifth came from another corner, with Jack again finding Brian Wiecek, who finished to make it 5–0 at half-time.

Springfield pulled a goal back early in the second half, but Carrigtwohill continued to play some excellent football. Aaron Power almost completed his hat-trick after a powerful run from midfield, only for the Springfield goalkeeper to make an excellent save. Springfield relied heavily on long balls throughout the afternoon, but the Carrigtwohill defence dealt with them superbly. Karol and Troy Emerhu were excellent at full-back, while Sam and Jamie O'Riordan dominated in the air. Bart was also excellent as a sweeper-keeper, while Dylan Foley once again put in a brilliant performance. Alameem Adeyinka worked extremely hard up front and linked play particularly well.

After the hour mark Carrigtwohill created three excellent opportunities in just four minutes. Brian Wiecek and Nathan Joseph both struck the post, while Owen Aghedo produced one of the moments of the match with a dazzling run from midfield, beating four players before forcing another fine save from the goalkeeper. Aaron Sheehan and Ryan Moore came on and made a big contribution as Carrigtwohill saw out an outstanding team performance. Springfield added a second late on, but it was Carrigtwohill who deservedly progressed to the next round.

Aaron Power was outstanding, scoring twice and providing a constant threat. Jack Lombard and Brian Wiecek were excellent in midfield and played major roles in several of the goals. Owen Aghedo produced a brilliant individual performance, including his outstanding second-half run. Jamie O'Riordan was a rock at the back, while the entire squad deserves credit for an excellent all-round performance.
