Carrigtwohill United 3–2 Rockmount

Carrigtwohill United booked their place in the next round of the Munster Cup with an excellent 3–2 victory over Rockmount in an exciting encounter at Ballyadam Park.

Carrig started brightly, with Owen Aghedo going close following some excellent build-up play from Karol and Aaron Power. Aaron then rounded the goalkeeper, only for a Rockmount defender to clear his effort off the line. Rockmount took the lead on 15 minutes, but Carrig continued to press and were rewarded eight minutes before half-time when Jack Lombard’s free-kick found Owen, who finished calmly to make it 1–1. Jack came agonisingly close to putting Carrig ahead before the break, striking the crossbar with a powerful effort.

Carrig started the second half on the front foot, but Rockmount regained the lead on 55 minutes. Showing tremendous character, Carrig continued to play their football and were level five minutes later when Brian Wiecek produced a superb pass for Owen, who beat two defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom corner for his second of the afternoon. With Ryan Moore, Alameen and Josh introduced to bolster the attack, Carrig piled on the pressure, and the winner arrived on 80 minutes. Owen delivered a superb corner, which Jamie O’Riordan met with a powerful header to send the home side into the next round. Carrig then saw out the game brilliantly to secure a memorable cup victory.

It was an outstanding team performance, with Bart, Isaac, Nathan, Sam and Karol all producing excellent displays. Special mention goes to Jamie O’Riordan, who was immense at the back and capped his performance with the winning goal, while Owen Aghedo was outstanding throughout, scoring twice.

Congratulations to the entire squad on a fantastic result!
