Last weekend the Carrigtwohill Under-18's played their last game of the season and completed a journey which has taken them from when Under-7's academy players, through the schoolboy ranks and finally to the premier division of Cork Youth football.
It has been a remarkable story which has involved good and bad times and credit to their parents who have been fantastic to support them throughout
This group, who were the first in the club to be able to run two different teams at schoolboy have been a very successful group throughout their time together, winning Under-14 Division 5 and finishing runners up at Under-15 and Under-16 in subsequent years before finally getting their due rewards by winning the Under-17 Division 1 title last season and promotion to the Premier Division.
A lot of the players have already stepped up to play Junior and Senior MSL with Carrigtwohill United this season and they look set to make a bit impact on both these teams next season.
Along with the success of the squad, two of the players have won the All-Ireland FAI Youth Cup with Cork this season and have distinguished themselves amongst the best players in the country in that competition
Above all else, it is a group of players that have stuck together throughout the years, are great friends and have been
a pleasure to work with week in week out. The coaches - Joe, JohnJoe, Aidan and Pearse would like to wish them the best of luck in the future and look forward to watching them play in the Carrigtwohill colours for many years to come.
