Carrigtwohill United A 5
Blarney United A 0

Finally, a Saturday unaffected by poor weather.

Carrigtwohill welcomed Blarney A for the return fixture and confidence was high after the first game. Carrigtwohill started strong and on the front foot with some good play down the left a few times between Charley and Frank leading to a couple of through balls which the Blarney keeper cleaned up well.

Carrigtwohill were very strong at the back quickly stopping any Blarney attacks with Antoni Kadula, Klaidas Dedela, Rian McGovern, Adam Lane, Oscar Connolly, Charley O’ Sullivan and Colm Ó Murchú behind in goal dealing with any long balls played through.

Carrigtwohill’s first goal came on 20 minutes. A well worked move that started at left back and worked all the way through midfield to the right-hand side saw the ball fall to Ajus whose shot was well saved by the keeper only for Ariel to react the quickest and slot home the rebound.

Shortly after to the delight of all watching came a glorious bit of play from the lads. Starting in midfield with Ronan the ball was worked out to the left to Ariel, passed through to the centre to Ajus who found John outside on the right-hand side and his perfect pass to Oscar on the edge of the box was rifled into the top right-hand corner. What an amazing sequence of quick one and two touch passes, movement and quick play. The kind of move that would be worthy of any goal of the season contender.

Carrigtwohill almost got a third before half time when both wide men combined with John finding Ariel and his first time left foot shot hammering off the crossbar.

Two nil at half time and the lads were really getting into a flow.

The second half started quickly with Blarney having one dangerous break down the centre, but Oscar Connolly covered fantastically from left back to get in a great tackle and prevent the shot from troubling the goal.

The midfield of Ronan Doyle, Cesc Matarin and Ajus Lepeska were well on top at this stage and working the ball out to the wide areas and through for the strikers very intelligently. The wide men of John Buckley, Mati Majchrzak, Ariel Lembelembe and Frank Krysiak were a constant threat down the line and in behind. Lorcan Thornhill and Oscar Mazur lead the line extremely well constantly occupying the defence.

Carrigtwohill’s third was another cracker. Antoni found Mati down the right-hand side who played a dangerous ball across to Ajus outside the box. Ajus showed brilliant composure to push the ball to the side of the oncoming defender and hit a beauty into the top left corner leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.

Carrigtwohill’s fourth was a well worked move which ended in Ajus finding Mati who got his reward for a fine performance on the day by finishing well.

The post was the only thing able to stop John from putting Carrigtwohill five up. But it eventually came from some great pressure by Ariel who disposed the right back, took the ball past the centre half and finished cooly past the keeper.

Carrigtwohill were well worth the win on the day and show improvement each time they take the pitch. The quick movement of the ball and players is a big danger to any team they come up against. It was another great runout for these boys who are an absolute pleasure to work with and we look forward to many more. A big thank you to the parents, family and coaches for their support, understanding and persistence through the regular cancellations we seem to have suffered recently. Hopefully a lot more sunny days ahead.
