Carrigtwohill United – 1
Avondale United – 1
Avondale United – 1
Both teams played a highly competitive match at Beaumont Park just a few weeks ago when our girls took away the points, so this match was highly antipated.
The girls are getting used to some structure now in the team and a familiar back 3 of Kalina, Rolina and Emilia were tasked with protecting Lucy’s goal. All 3 girls starred throughout the match.

It was defences on top for the first half for sure as chances were hard to come by. Good work on the wings by Allie and Eliza did force Avondale into last ditch clearances and a good shot by Lili was handled well by the steady Avondale keeper .
Great credit was due to the midfielders Hanna, Lauren and Sofia who were working hard to win the ball and push up the field but it was no surprise that it was no score at half-time.

The game opened up in the second half and it was Avondale who struck first with a break away goal and yet again, the Carrigtwohill girls needed to dig deep and up their performance.
As the second half progressed, they gradually took the game by the scruff of the neck and it was no surprise, with most of the possession, that they scored the equaliser and what a goal it was.

Lucy, now playing centre forward, took control of a long pass and was able to control the ball despite the attention of two defenders before hitting a smasher into the top corner of the net.
It was all Carrigtwohill now, with Molly starring in the backline, the girls pushed very hard, and had a number of chances, one just narrowly wide seconds before full-time but in truth it was a superb performance rewarded with a draw rather than a win which is the story of their season so far.

Well done girls !
