It was a cup game this morning for the lads and like the rest of our cup games this season, it was a great battle between two strong sides who looked to play football. 

The back 4 of Luke, James, Eoin and Tom held their shape to push the midfield 3 of Darragh Sullivan, Sam and captain for the day Aaron forward to try to help the front 3. A lot of the game was played in the middle in the first half, and we went in at half time at 0-0. Kai and Finn done great work to help their full backs and grew into the game in the second half getting closer to Zayd who was up against a strong and fast back 3 from Passage. 

Positive attitude and great character have been common themes throughout the season for this team and today was no different. The second half continued like the first, a cagey game where both teams worked hard to get that first goal. 

The first goal came with about 5 minutes to play where Cormac and Fionn combined well to win Carrig a corner. Aaron put in a ball which was difficult to deal with and Eoin was in a great position to tap home and get that important goal late on in the game. Zayd capped off a great performance again when he smashed the cross bar which allowed Fionn to delicately volley the rebound to give us a 2-0 win and send us into the next round of the cup. 

This was a great game and neither side deserved to lose it.
