Report:
Carrigtwohill United Juniors travelled to Knockgriffin Sunday morning to face Midleton Juniors in the final cup competition of the season (Beamish Junior Super Cup).
It was Carrig that started the brighter, being well organised and competitive in all areas of the pitch and it could be said they had the better of the first half but found themselves 2-0 down going in at the break.
An early third goal for Midleton in the 2nd half appeared to kill the tie and there was a lull in play for the next 20 minutes or so.
With 15 remaining Carrigtwohill found a spark when some super wing play by Alex Fitzgerald put his namesake Calvin Fitzgerald in and Calvin finished with aplomb to score his first goal since returning to the club in the new year.
This made for a nervy finish to the game for the hosts as Carrigtwohill went close again on a number of occasions but Midleton did enough to progress and best of luck to them in the next round.
Best for Carrigtwohill were Ronan Browne & Alex Fitzgerald.
