Carrigtwohill United – 3
Riverstown – 2

It was long overdue win for the U18s who despite putting up strong performances against top sides in premier league, good results were just elusive. Consistency and hard work were duly rewarded this weekend at home to Riverstown when we came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 in the end.

Carrigtwohill started strong as the twin strike force of Seba Korona and Leroy Mhondiwa constantly threatened Riverstown with incisive runs down the channel. Quick thinking and penetrating passes kept coming from a midfield of Alex Lombard, Rollie, Amany and Evan. It was one of those telling passes from Alex Lombard through the middle that Seba got to the end of and rounding of the keeper before finishing to go to half-time 1:0 up.

Come second half Riverstown seemingly looked like they were going to snatch all points after getting two penalty goals. It didn’t last long as the introduction of Colm Harte in CB and Roan O’Keefe made all the difference as Roan ran down the right wing twice as much cutting in the ball for Leroy who justifiably grabbed the equaliser and the winner coming from deep. Justified 3 points in the end but very unlucky to have gone behind on the first place.

Best on the day were Jayden Washeka, Leroy Mhondiwa, Alex Lombard, Roan O’Keefe, and Sebastian Korona (MOTM) who deservedly won man of the match.
The day before this squad was well represented in the Cork Youth League by Colm Harte and Rollie Durango who won 5:0 vs Wexford Youths. Our Carrigtwohill Captain Colm Harte played the entire match putting in a stellar performance on left wingback.  All Ireland Final is in 2 weeks’ time vs Mayo.
