Carrigtwohill United – 5
Riverstown – 0
Riverstown – 0
Carrigtwohill United welcomed Riverstown on a sunny evening yesterday for the Under 13’s Division 1 league fixture. The game got off to a quick start with Carrig taking the lead 7 minutes into the game. Not long after, an unfortunate handball from one of the Riverside players inside the box, meant a penalty for Carrig, and a lovely strike into the top corner saw Carrig 2-0 up.
Carrig continued to dominate the game despite some nice play from Riverstown, but the solid Carrig back line were making sure that the visitors weren’t getting much up front. A third goal from the home team in the 16th minute, and it was 3-0 at half time.
The second half was again dominated by Carrig, with the 4th goal coming only two minutes into the second half. It was a tough lead for Riverstown to try and claw back at that point, and with the Carrig keeper stealing any chance of hope of them scoring by making several brilliant saves. With only 5 minutes to go, Carrig scored their 5th goal, and the game finished 5-0 to the home side.
There was an outstanding show of effort, skill and determination from every one of the Carrig girls and they put on an excellent display, which they should all be very proud of. It was a great game and a well-deserved win.
Thanks to Riverstown for travelling to play us and to the Referee Sarah Healy for a fair game.
